In the Running
Super Bowl. Super Tuesday. Fastnacht Day. Stuff is GOING ON in the world these days. I'm just mad because there is nothing on my basic cable TV except the primary returns and they're kind of boring to watch long-term. Please just break in before and after Law and Order SVU to tell me who's winning. And we're not even close to the actual election. The thought of all the time and energy and money and smear tactics and backstabbing that's going to happen after the nominees are actually chosen makes me tired. Can't this be all? I just want to be done. A co-presidency, maybe? Clinton-McCain? That makes everyone happy, right?
Did you happen to see Michelle Obama on CSPAN this weekend? We watched her at the Super Bowl party before the game started in lieu of watching NFL players recite the Declaration of Independence (what?). She is rocking. I don't really approve of Oprah-politics (and Oprah was part of this rally), but I was highly impressed with M. Obama. She's knows how to work a crowd.
I'm not coming out in favor of any candidate at this point, although I have my leanings. I've never supported a winning candidate. From age 10, every candidate I have wanted to win has lost. Dukakis - Bush - Dole - Gore - Kerry. A whole track record of losers. And quite inconsistent, too. Check out my conservative leanings from 1992-1996. Dukakis was a fluke, I just wanted to be different than EVERYONE else I knew.
Mike Huckabee just said "I'm lovin' me some peaches tonight" when told he won Georgia. That made me laugh.
And why doesn't Joe Lieberman just decide he's a Republican? Seriously.
