the fire of September
Back in July I was already planning and scheming about my birthday and how I would spend it.
Most of my July planning has come to naught, but I'm not really disappointed. Because the rest of September is packed with activities, and I'm claiming them all as part of my birthday celebration, even though most aren't connected at all.
My actual birthday (Sept. 19, for those keeping track at home) is going to be fun . . . I have the day off, and so do two of my cousins, and we're going to go to the beach or otherwise celebrate somehow. However, the fun actually kicks off this Wednesday with a free college lecture on advertising (so relevant!), and then continues through the rest of the month with several dinners, at least two parties, a family dinner celebration, ANOTHER free college lecture, two fairs, a hymn sing, and a church potluck.
(I do realize that most of these things make it sound as though it's 1898 (a box social! parlor games! a ride in a motorcar!), but they really are fun for me).
The whole of Central PA is chipping in to help celebrate my birthday.
And that sounds really narcissistic, but I'm actually just appreciating what I have right now.
