The Bronx is Up, and the Battery's down
Happy birthday to me!
So, we went to NYC for the day. It was a good time . . . I always feel like I miss out on things when I go there, though, because it's a huge place, with so much going on all of the time, and yet I just don't know how to find out what's going on. So, I wander around and finally do something touristy that I already know about, because who really buys a guidebook for a city that's only three hours away?

But, the real mystery of today: who is this couple? We rode with them over to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. He was about 65, old and balding, and at first I assumed he was her grandfather. She was young (20? 25?) and beautiful, a more-exotic version of Katie Holmes. She spoke with an accent. He did not. He took her picture numerous times with his camera and professional-looking lense. What is the nature of this relationship?
Some more pics below, and also on Flickr.
