Life in these United States

Sometimes, after watching my fill of Seinfeld and Simpsons reruns, I forget to change the channel and Everybody Loves Raymond comes on. It's on right now, actually, and I keep meaning to get up and change the channel (I can't find the remote), but I'm distracting myself with the internet.

Anyway, I hate this show. If I ever thought I would be in a marriage like Ray and Debra's, I would kill myself. They mostly seem to hate each other. Debra is a nasty woman who can't see past her own problems, and Ray is an idiot. More of an idiot because Debra treats him like one. He just wallows in the idiocy.

I hate shows that show marriages like this. Why would you want to be married to someone that you really, really don't like? And yet I think people think these shows are funny because they're a reflection of real life. Men are complete idiots who don't get enough sex, and women are complete bitches who can't forgive their husbands for not being like women.

Equally horrible looking is the upcoming "Til Death," starring Robert from ELR. Another sitcom about marriage degenerating into bickering and disgust. Hi-larious!

And yet Arrested Development was cancelled. This is what I think every time I see an ad for a new fall show.
