Go ahead and jump
Screw this insecurity . . . I joined the Yo La Tengo Late Summer Weblog Contest at Picnic, Lightning. Which means I have to post every day for the rest of 2006. There are enough people joining now that me and my blog can hide out in a corner without being too noticeable. Still, I might mess with my template. Just a little.
But now I feel like I should save all my post ideas for next week, when the contest starts.
And my own small challenge . . . I've decided to see if I can title all my posts using song lyrics. They have to be semi-relevant to the post, though. This is going to be tricky, but thanks to Google I can search for a word I need and find lyrics that I don't have stored in my brain. That's kind of like cheating, though, so I'm going to try to use only lyrics I actually know. We'll see how long this lasts.
In the meantime, have you read Anne Lamott's Bird by Bird? I can't recommend this book highly enough if you're a writer, and if you're not . . . well, read it anyway. You'll want to be a writer when you're done.
And someone from the University of Georgia found my blog today by googling "What happened to the Tampa Typhoon?" I love that! I love that someone else cares. What DID happen to the Tampa Typhoon? Inquiring minds (at least two) want to know.
