In the year 2525
I've never been on the cutting edge of technology. I usually find out about websites just before they become huge. MySpace, Google . . . I hear about these things right before EVERYONE starts hearing about them. So I'm no expert.
But, to my mom, I'm like her own personal Wired magazine. She's even less on the edge than I am. (In my family, my mom is the technical one. If there's a piece of furniture to put together, a VCR to program, a motherboard to replace, my mom is the one who takes care of it. My dad learned how to email and google a few years ago, and he can read his favorite newspapers online, but other than that he doesn't do technology. My mom actually likes it. She set up a gmail account, and I sent her an email there the other month, but she didn't actually get the email until I told her I'd sent it. It turns out she doesn't actually CHECK gmail, she just set it up "to be cool.")
So tonight I introduced her to Wikipedia and imdb. She especially liked Wikipedia. She and my dad and I were watching the Jerry Lewis telethon, and so spent a significant amount of time looking up the aging telethon performers on Wikipedia to find out how old they actually are.
These are the kind of evenings I spend with my parents. And I really don't mind.
